A weather cocktail is in effect across most of Quebec, bringing with it heavy rain, 10 to 20 centimeters of snow and freezing rain in some areas by Friday evening.
“Several regions could receive significant amounts of rain or snow,” said Environment Canada, adding that the precipitation would start in the form of rain Thursday morning, before changing to snow in the evening.
The winter storm warning issued by Environment Canada will be accompanied by rising mercury, approaching 10 degrees in places, particularly in the south of the province.
The Montreal region and Montérégie could receive up to 15 centimeters of rain changing to snow overnight from Thursday to Friday, while the western and northern sectors will suffer from a real winter storm, with temperatures on the decline.
Between 10 and 20 centimeters of snow could fall in the Outaouais and Abitibi, according to forecasts from the federal agency.
In Estrie, weather is expected with rising mercury near record highs, while the rain falling in the morning will change to freezing rain overnight from Thursday to Friday, where 2 to 5 centimeters of ice are expected.
The Quebec region will be affected by a veritable deluge, since up to 30 centimeters of rain are expected in several sectors, while in the east of the province the rain will quickly change to snow under positive temperatures of 5 to 6 degrees.
