Radio-Canada and our lack of patience

Oh ! Surprise ! The duty reported Monday October 2 an opinion, yes, surprising, coming from the main director of ICI Tou.tv. To justify the decision to broadcast the new season of The little life on the (paid) Tou.tv Extra platform, several months before its broadcast on ICI Télé (sometimes free for those with “rabbit ears”), it explains itself as follows: “People have adopted a way of listening to shows today. They have no more patience. They no longer have patience for advertising. »

Sky ! On target ! How many people like me can no longer stand the ads that cut lengths and relentlessly from the ICI RDI newscast? When will ICI RDI be on Tou.tv Extra? !

Along the same lines: weren’t there, during the last election, politicians who promised an increase in the Canadian radio budget to allow state television to cut a good portion, otherwise all the advertising on his news channel?

Once freed from advertising, the next common sense step will be to finance ICI RDI even more so as to allow this channel to escape once and for all from the logic of cable or satellite services, where subscription to RDI ($7) cannot be done without going through a “basic” subscription at $25…

Irony of the situation: the CBC news channel (CBC News Network) is included in this basic subscription in Quebec. By consulting the Radio-Canada website, we understand that this channel is “for mandatory distribution on the basic service [au Québec] because of its specific mandate” with the English-speaking community of this province…

The CRTC, for its part, judges these “specialty” channels to be “optional”… except for minorities, who have $7 less to pay…

Sigh…
