In the wild, the axolotl, this friendly salamander, lives in lakes in the center of the country, and nowhere else in the world. As a larva, it has fern-like gills on either side of its head. Many inhabitants of this country took a liking to her and made her a pet.

The ingredients of this delicious chocolate sauce

Mole sauce is a delicious chocolate sauce, to which spices such as paprika, cinnamon and cloves are added, as well as chili, sesame seeds and crumbled tortillas. Its origin dates back several hundred years. It was then offered as an offering to the gods during ceremonies.

The Pyramid of Kukulcan

The Pyramid of Kukulcan is part of Chichen Itza – an ancient Mayan city in Yucatán – which was the main religious center of the region in the 10the century. The archaeological site was classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988. It receives more than 2 million visitors a year.

A very special group and style of music

Difficult to find more typical than the mariachi, this musical style which was inscribed on the list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity in 2011. A traditional group consists of two trumpets, two to four violins, a vihuela ( a small guitar), one to four accompanying guitars and a guitarrón (a huge guitar).
