First clue
Bobobudur is one of the most beautiful temples in this country. This sanctuary dedicated to Buddha was built around the IXe century. It was abandoned 300 years later to be rediscovered in the early 1800s. It has 2,672 bas-reliefs and 504 Buddha statues, and is on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
Second clue
Bromo is an active volcano. It reaches 2329 m of altitude and its crater has a diameter of 800 m. When it is not erupting, it can be climbed on foot or by jeep. Watching the sunrise at the top of this mountain is one of the country’s great tourist attractions.
Third clue
Wayang kulit is a traditional shadow theater. The puppets are made of leather and are manipulated behind a sheet to the sound of an equally traditional orchestra, the gamelan, essentially composed of percussion instruments. The wayang kulit is inscribed on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.
Fourth clue
The Komodo dragon is a species of monitor lizard found only in this country. It is a kind of giant lizard that can reach 3 m in length. It likes carrion, but it can also hunt birds and mammals. It can move up to 20 km/h. It is an endangered species.
