(Quebec) The Quebec police believe that the arrest of a few criminals on Tuesday afternoon will allow them to solve several crimes that have occurred in the downtown area of the Old Capital over the past few days.
Of the five suspects aged 21 to 47 who have been arrested, three men and one woman are expected to be taken to court later on Wednesday. The other, a man, was released without charge, as the investigation showed that he was not involved in the events.
Officers from the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) were called to intervene shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday in two businesses on Saint-Joseph Street in relation to robberies that had just occurred.
The SPVQ explains that several of its patrol officers traveled to the area to locate the suspects. Thanks to information provided by witnesses, the police were able to locate the suspects’ escape point, not far from the businesses targeted for the robberies.
The SPVQ reports that the investigation initiated into the two robberies on Tuesday allows it to link the suspects to several other robberies, break and enters and simple thefts that have recently occurred in the city center. Several cases of criminal acts should thus be resolved, according to the police.
