Quebec submits its offers to all workers’ unions in early childhood centers

More than 13 months after the expiry of the collective agreements, Quebec finally submits its offers to all the unions which represent the thousands of workers in early childhood centers (CPE).

The office of the President of the Treasury Board, Sonia LeBel, confirmed this on Tuesday. He does not want to comment further at this time.

This submission of offers from Quebec makes it possible to begin negotiations for the renewal of collective agreements which have expired since March 31, 2023, i.e. at the same time as those in the public sector.

The two main groups of these unions, namely the FSSS, affiliated with the CSN, and the FIPEQ, affiliated with the CSQ, receive these employer offers on Tuesday, and the FTQ on Wednesday.

FIPEQ submitted its requests in September 2023; the FSSS did it last week.

The two union federations say they have been ready to start negotiations for several months. But Minister LeBel said in February that she would wait until the three union centers had submitted their requests before submitting her offers.

The union demands relate to salary increases, support for children with special needs and leave.
