Quebec reports 7 new deaths linked to COVID-19

Quebec reports on Tuesday seven new deaths attributed to COVID-19 as well as a decrease in hospitalizations.

There are currently 1,016 hospitalizations, down nine from Monday. Twenty-one people are in intensive care, one more than the day before.

A total of 4,156 healthcare workers are absent for reasons related to COVID-19, such as preventive withdrawal or isolation.

The death toll now stands at 15,496.

The Ministry of Health is also reporting 655 new cases of COVID-19, for a total of 1,074,675 since the start of the pandemic. However, the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.

A total of 219,945 rapid tests have been self-reported so far on the government platform, including 180,678 positives. For the day on Monday, 318 tests were declared, including 270 positive.

The Ministry of Health indicates that 7524 analyzes were carried out on Monday and that the positivity rate is 7.7%.

With regard to vaccination, 3880 doses have been administered in the last 24 hours in Quebec.

Among those aged 5 and over, 91% received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 55% received a third dose and 14% obtained a fourth dose. Among those aged 60 and over, 43% went for a fourth dose.
