Quebec reports 21 new deaths linked to COVID-19

Quebec reports Wednesday 21 new deaths attributed to COVID-19, as well as a slight drop in hospitalizations.

There are now 1,344 hospitalizations, a drop of seven compared to Tuesday. There are 45 people in intensive care, a decrease of two.

A total of 4,124 health care workers are absent for reasons related to COVID-19, such as preventive withdrawal or isolation.

The death toll now stands at 15,378.

The Ministry of Health reports 584 new cases, for a total of 1,063,036 since the start of the pandemic. However, the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.

A total of 211,580 rapid tests have been self-reported so far on the government platform, including 173,420 positives. For the day on Tuesday, 216 tests were declared, including 184 positive.

The Ministry of Health says it carried out 10,505 tests on Tuesday and a positivity rate of 6.2%.

In terms of vaccination, 9,800 doses administered are added, ie 9,511 in the last 24 hours and 289 before May 24.

Among those aged 5 and over, 91% received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 55% received a third dose and 13% received a fourth dose. Among those aged 60 and over, 41% received a fourth dose.
