Quebec and Saint-Bernard | Three people arrested as part of the CENTAUR strategy

The Sûreté du Québec announced on Friday that it had arrested three people following several searches in Quebec and Saint-Bernard, in Chaudière-Appalaches, which led to the seizure of a large quantity of narcotics.

This is the culmination of an investigation started in 2022. On Friday, two men aged 24 and 28 and a woman aged 27 were arrested before being released. They could face charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking, said the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) in a press release.

On the same day, searches at three different locations resulted in authorities seizing approximately 343,000 methamphetamine tablets, over 21 kilograms of powdered methamphetamine, plus 520 grams of cannabis, over 30 grams of cocaine, over 55 grams of magic mushrooms and a sum of approximately 13,900 dollars, announced the SQ.

Three vehicles were also seized “as offence-related property,” according to the statement.

The investigation was conducted jointly by police officers from the Integrated Weapons Trafficking Team (EILTA) Quebec, made up of members of the Sûreté du Québec and members of the Quebec City police department, in collaboration with the National Organized Crime Squad (ENRCO).

The police operation is part of the CENTAURE strategy, which has the mandate “to ensure constant pressure on organized crime and thus actively fight against armed violence in Quebec. CENTAURE allows all partner police forces to maximize their efforts at the national, regional and local levels, targeting the supply, importation, distribution and illegal possession of firearms,” underlines the SQ.

Any information related to the possession, trafficking or use of firearms can be communicated to the CENTAURE information line at 1-833-888-ARME (2763).
