Quartier Vimont in Laval | A 61-year-old man was fatally crushed by his carport

A 61-year-old man died Friday, in the Vimont district of Laval, under the impact of the collapse of his temporary car shelter. The police, who speak of an “unfortunate accident”, believe that the weight of the snow could be responsible.

It was around noon that the Laval Police Department (SPL) said it was called to rue de la Louvière, near the intersection between highways 40 and 19. The initial call mentioned a “man lying on the ground , unconscious”, under a winter car shelter which had “collapsed”.

“We think that it may be the weight of the snow above the shelter that would have made the installation give way,” said Constable Érika Landry, spokesperson for the police force, on Friday.

One thing is certain: after resuscitation maneuvers carried out by the police, the sexagenarian was transported to a hospital center, where his death was unfortunately recorded.

Police were on the scene of the accident in the early afternoon to clarify the causes and the exact circumstances of it.
