The Océanic completely dominated the first period as indicated by the number of shots of 12 against 2 in favor of the locals.

Two goals from Jacob Mathieu

The retort came less than three minutes later on Jacob Mathieu’s 21st of the season as the Océanic buzzed into visitor territory. Mathieu did it again a few minutes later when he received a skillful pass from Xavier Cormier coming off the bench to give the Océanic the lead.

Shortly after, Serge Beausoleil’s men were unable to take advantage of a double numerical superiority of almost two minutes.
