Pursued on the highway by robbers, rapper Tiakola crashes into a police station and ends up in police custody

The singer, who was trying to reach the Noisy-le-Grand police station (Seine-Saint-Denis), told investigators that he was carrying 25,000 euros in his vehicle.

Rapper Tiakola was taken into police custody in Noisy-le-Grand (Seine-Saint-Denis) on the evening of Thursday, November 16, after hitting the police station barrier to escape people who had tried to rob him of the highway, AFP learned Friday from a police source and from the Bobigny public prosecutor’s office.

Robbery on the highway

Around 11 p.m., after leaving a concert in Paris, the 23-year-old singer, a rising figure in French rap, was chased on the highway while he was in his SUV car with his driver and an attendant, according to a police source.

At the exit of the A4 motorway, near Noisiel (Seine-et-Marne), they were blocked by two other vehicles. The attackers get out, break the windshield with a hammer but Tiakola’s driver manages to escape. In his maneuver, he crashes into a vehicle and continues his journey to the Noisy-le-Grand police station.

While trying to rush into the police station, the driver hit a barrier. The rapper, real name William Mundela, his driver and his companion were placed in police custody for a time for damage, said the Bobigny prosecutor’s office, specifying that “the rapper and the other passenger were dismissed without further action”.

25,000 euros in a spare wheel

No decision has been taken concerning the driver of the vehicle at this stage of the investigation, opened for intentional damage and entrusted to the Noisy-le-Grand police station. The attackers and their cars have been identified but have not yet been found.

Tiakola also told investigators that he had hidden 25,000 euros in the compartment of his spare wheel, an amount intended for shopping. Thursday evening, he was invited by rapper Gazo to perform the songs Kassav And Flowers on stage, during a concert at the Accor Arena Bercy broadcast live on YouTube.

In May, during the Flammes ceremony, dedicated to rap and its trends, the young rapper from the Paris region received three awards (new pop album of the year, r’n’b song, afro-inspired song).
