The 58th edition of the Agricultural Show took place opened Saturday February 26. It marks the reunion with the public. On the spot, the journalist Catherine Matausch met xavier Vandevoorde and Caroline Petit, young farmers who produce durum wheat pasta.

xavier Vandevoorde and Caroline Petit created their pasta activity on the farm during confinement. The journalist Katherine Matausch met them at the Salon de l’Agriculture on Saturday 26 February. They made the choice of the short circuit. Customers came to stock up on the farm at the start of the Covid, but two years later, “unfortunately, we noticed that they went back to their usual supermarket and instead abandoned their shop on the farm“, notes Caroline Petit.

This Agricultural Show opens against a backdrop of war in Ukraine, a conflict that could have consequences for the agricultural world. The increase in the price of wheat, imported from Ukraine for many, is a concern for Xavier Vandevoorde :The markets are quite volatile. (…) Today, it’s vague. The two cereal producers have so far not chosen to increase the prices of sale. “Butif it continues, we will have no choice”warns Xavier. Finally, Caroline confirms that “purchasing power is a real concern since we see everything increasing and we think that consumers are going to pay more and more attention to their wallets and we are afraid that it is local products that are toast“.
