Purchasing power, housing… The National Rally wants to update its program

Accused of not being sufficiently solid on the substance of its program, the RN wants to renew its proposals. Working groups are set up to implement a new doctrine. Jean-Rémi Baudot’s political brief

In the entourage of Marine Le Pen, there is a conviction: “Need to update“. A fixed idea drawn from a simple observation: the current RN program is starting to date a little. Most of the proposals have, in fact, been forged for the 2022 presidential election. They are therefore at least two years old, when some simply don’t date from previous campaigns.”It’s moving so fast, now that we’re destined to win, we can’t rest“, says an RN executive.

A working group on housing will soon meet

According to several RN deputies, purchasing power remains among the priority subjects. Although Marine Le Pen is identified in the opinion on the subject, her proposals are not included. The idea of a “0% VAT” remains debated and finds no echo in the political class, nor among economists. We must therefore find new angles of attack.

Another subject to update in the program of the National Rally: housing, a subject that links purchasing power and territorial development. “On housing, we are a little weakas recognized by a close friend of Marine Le Pen. Like the other parties, we have not yet found the right balance“According to our information, a working group on housing has therefore been set up.

It will meet for the first time in a few days, headed by two deputies who have themselves worked in the sector: Frédéric Falcon and Thomas Ménagé. They are responsible for making a series of proposals because, for the time being, nothing very new on the RN side. One finds in the program: to support the accession to the property or to promote the national priority for the attribution of the social housing.

New doctrines for 2027?

Within the RN, we recognize that these proposals are not up to the problems of the moment in the face of the fall in construction, the rise in rates which seems to seize up the market for new and old properties. The extreme right is therefore looking for new ideas: taxation, artificialization, ecology, renovation. Everything is officially on the table. Behind the scenes, an executive says it’s the “good time” : “We have four years to refine and propose new doctrines“.

But is the RN today sufficiently well organized to develop its ideas? A few months ago, leaving an interview, Marine Le Pen imagined the establishment of a “housing fund” where tenants would place their deposits in order to finance and develop the sector. An idea that has so far, for example, has not been taken up. Asked, the entourage of Marine Le Pen did not even seem aware of this proposal.
