In response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine that began on February 24, Paris Saint-Germain decided to put an end, by mutual agreement and until the end of the season, its partnership with Fonbet, its only Russian sponsor. The suspension takes effect immediately, learned France Bleu Paris.
In doing so, PSG is following in the footsteps of two other clubs, AC Milan and Real Madrid, who had also suspended their partnership with Fonbet.
Signed at the end of 2019 and running until 2023, this partnership “regional” relates only to Russian territory and to all the territories of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The PSG Academy in Moscow, a football school which welcomes 500 children, is for its part maintained, having, according to the club, no link with the Russian government. “We have not found any reason to interrupt our work with our local partner for the PSG Academy in Russia. We continue our work for the children of the Academy with this long-standing partner and remain attentive to the measures that could be taken”says PSG.
