PSG beats FC Bruges (4-1), thanks to doubles from Mbappé and Messi

A brace in seven minutes, an assist. Kylian Mbappé delivered an impressive performance under the colors of PSG this Tuesday, December 7 at the Parc des Princes on the occasion of the reception of Bruges, for the last day of the group stage in the Champions League. Parisian footballers beat the Belgians 4-1, with an express double from Mbappé and another double from Lionel Messi. If PSG was particularly offensive in the first period, its players played a more messy game in the second half.

Kylian Mbappé, serial scorer

Mauricio Pochettino’s men had already qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League even before kick-off, but they did not take the reception of Club Brugge lightly, far from it. From the first minutes of play, Kylian Mbappé was incredible by opening the scoring in the second minute before doubling the stake a few minutes later. On a bell pass from Angel Di Maria, the Frenchman armed a formidable volley of the right. And with this double, Kylian MBappé became the youngest player to reach and exceed the 30-goal mark in the Champions League.

An impressive collective work

PSG footballers were able to show themselves united on Tuesday against Bruges, by increasing the number of assists. A huge collective work that paid off since Kylian Mbappé launched a lightning attack in the 38th minute of play, offering a superb assist to Lionel Messi. The Argentinian then scored the third goal of this meeting, and his third goal at the Parc des Princes.

A second more messy period

On the return from half-time, the Parisian footballers showed a more messy game, much less offensive. PSG could count on the vigilance of Donnarumma who repelled several vicious shots from the Belgians. But the goalkeeper could not do anything against Mats Rits and his flat foot in the 67th minute. The goal of FC Bruges came to punish the Parisians, too haughty with many high ball losses.

Finally in the 76th minute, Lionel Messi was more combative. On a penalty, the Golden Ball did not shake and scored a double. This is his second double with PSG, after the one he scored against Leipzig, again in the Champions League.

Despite this slower second period, PSG won 4-1 against FC Bruges. Paris therefore goes to the knockout stages of the Champions League, but will know its next opponent on December 13.
