Three of the four prison inter-union unions, the CGT, FO and the SPS, signed the proposals made by the Ministry of Justice on Friday May 17, calling for an end to the movement triggered after the attack on a prison van on Tuesday last, Franceinfo learned from a union source.

FO Justice, the CGT and the SPS are calling for an end to the movement, while Ufap-Unsa is calling for it to be suspended and will decide on a signature next Tuesday, this source said.

The Ministry of Justice made new proposals on Friday evening to strengthen the security of prison officers. This “statement of decision” that Franceinfo obtained takes up a large part of the counter-proposals transmitted the day before by the inter-union association.

It mentions in particular the fact of trivializing a large part of the prison service vehicles, provides for a “rapid supply of long weapons and automatic long guns” or even a limitation of extractions thanks to the development of “use of video conference for interrogations” and the fact of “favor travel by magistrates and clerks within establishments for the most reported prisoners”.

Prison officers, dissatisfied with the government’s first responses to their demands, extended their movement to block prisons started on Friday for a third day after the fatal attack on a prisoner transfer van on Tuesday in Eure.
