Post-election crisis in Venezuela | Prosecutor’s office requests arrest of opposition candidate Edmundo González Urrutia

(Caracas) The Venezuelan prosecutor’s office on Monday requested the arrest of Edmundo González Urrutia, the opposition candidate who claims victory in the July 28 presidential election in which Nicolás Maduro was declared the winner, the public prosecutor’s office announced on social networks.

In the text published on the networks, the prosecutor’s office issues “the arrest order against citizen Edmundo González Urrutia” for the crimes and offenses of “disobedience”, “conspiracy” and “sabotage”. Mr. González Urrutia, 75, did not attend three summonses from the justice system – the last one on Friday – who wanted to hear him about the opposition website that gives him the victory in the presidential election.
