A 38-year-old woman and her two young children from the same family were found dead overnight from Saturday to Sunday in their Brossard home. Longueuil police consider these deaths to be a triple homicide.
A fire broke out around 1 a.m. Sunday morning in the victims’ accommodation located in a residential tower on Saint-Laurent Boulevard, on the banks of the river. First responders, once there, were able to contain the fire and made the macabre discovery.
The Longueuil agglomeration police service (SPAL) did not indicate whether the bodies of the victims showed signs of violence so as not to interfere with the investigation. The scene has been closed. Investigators are at work to understand the circumstances of the tragedy.
A man considered “as an important witness” was arrested at the scene, noted the SPAL without specifying whether he himself was considered a suspect. The man in question is currently being questioned by the police.
The names of the victims are withheld out of respect for loved ones.
