The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) reports having received several calls to 911 in connection with this file in the afternoon of Tuesday. The reports concerned a man who was seen “with a firearm outside the CEGEP”.

“We are in the process of evacuating the CEGEP as a preventive measure. One person has been arrested so far. And the police are still looking for additional suspects,” police spokesperson Véronique Dubuc briefly summarized, without giving further details.

The latter, however, indicated that witnesses told the authorities that they had seen a man with a firearm enter the CEGEP. In the middle of the afternoon, however, the police were unable to confirm the presence of a weapon themselves.

A police perimeter was erected in the area, more specifically on rue Marie-Victorin, not far from boulevard Maurice-Duplessis.

More details will follow.
