A 20-year-old man was found dead in the Olympic pool at Parc Jean-Drapeau after leaving the Osheaga music festival on Sunday evening.
The Montreal Police Department (SPVM) found the victim’s body after intervening around 7:45 p.m. The police force had received calls from several witnesses informing them that a man was swimming in the Olympic pool.
“The police asked for help from the firefighters and went looking for him in a boat,” confirms officer Julien Lévesque, from SPVM media relations.
They located the inert body of the young man around 9 p.m., who had apparently drowned.
The victim had gone with friends to the Osheaga music festival earlier that day.
“We learned of the death of one of the festival-goers last night, after he left the site,” confirmed evenko, organizer of the festival held annually at Parc Jean-Drapeau. “We are collaborating with the SPVM investigation that is currently underway in connection with this sad event.”
