Possible assassination attempt against Donald Trump: suspect charged

A helicopter hovering and a highway blocked by dozens of heavily armed police officers. They have just arrested the man suspected of having tried to assassinate Donald Trump a few minutes earlier, Sunday, September 15, on his golf course in Florida (United States). Ryan Routh, 58, surrendered with his hands in the air, without resistance. Around 1:30 p.m., he was hiding in a bush, on the edge of Donald Trump’s private golf course, where the former American president was playing. A Secret Service agent saw a cannon coming out of the bush, opened fire and the suspect fled.

Ryan Routh, a construction worker, has already been arrested eight times for minor offenses. On social media, he often criticizes Donald Trump and mainly presents himself as a very active pro-Ukraine activist. Two years ago, he even went to Kiev. He was charged on Monday, September 16, with possession of weapons despite a criminal conviction. He is expected to face further prosecution.
