Pope Francis’ surgeon targeted by investigation

According to the Catalan independence party, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez must soon meet Carles Puigdemont, the former president of Catalonia. This would be their first interview since the attempted secession of Catalonia in 2017. But Pedro Sanchez denies having scheduled this meeting. “My agenda is public, it is absolutely transparent”, he said. The Spanish Prime Minister was able to be re-elected last November thanks to the support of Catalan separatists in exchange for a promise of amnesty.

Suspected of lying out of greed

In Italy, Pope Francis’ surgeon is suspected of having lied out of greed. He is the target of an investigation for “forgery”. He allegedly signed the attendance register in an operating room on several occasions even though he was not there, sometimes even indicating that he was operating in two different rooms at the same time. The surgeon would thus have received fees which were not due to him.
