The “we answer you” section of Wednesday, May 18, 2022, looks at the change of government. The first question is asked by Alexandre, 8 years old. “How do you become a minister?” The journalist on set, Julien Nény, answers him. “You have to keep in mind that a minister is not a job: there are no compulsory studies to enter the government.” He adds, “we can define three profiles of ministers: political ministers, who have been elected for years, “techno” ministers, never elected, but who work in senior administration and therefore know well how the State works, and corporate ministers civilians, who have no connection with politics, but who are experts in a specific field.”
Another child, Rémi, 10, asks if it is the president or the prime minister who chooses his ministers. Julien Nény explains that “it is the President who chooses them, on the proposal of the Prime Minister: it is also the President who decides to put an end to their functions, it is written in the Constitution”.
