Police search for victims of sexual assault by Montreal plumber

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) is looking for potential victims of a 34-year-old plumber who allegedly tricked women claiming to have work to do at home in order to assault them afterwards.

Mustapha Berdous appeared on March 28 at the Montreal courthouse, where he was charged with sexual assault.

According to the SPVM, this professional plumber claimed to have work to do in the apartment where a young woman lived.

“After a first refusal to let him in, the suspect returned to the charge an hour later, this time claiming to have to do work in the lower housing,” detailed the SPVM press release published on Wednesday. “The victim lets him in. The suspect works in the kitchen and tries to get closer to the young woman. He approaches her asking if she lives alone. The victim pushes him away twice and threatens to call the police. She managed to get him to leave the place.

Investigators from the SPVM’s Sexual Assault Section believe that Mustapha Berdous could have used this scheme to make other victims.

The 34-year-old man is of North African origin, he has black hair and eyes, is 1.80 m tall and weighs 67 kg. He would speak in French.

Anyone who may have been a victim of this man is invited to contact the Sexual Assault Section at 514 280-8502.
