A 14-year-old girl drowned after slipping in one of the Super Aqua Club facilities. Emergency services were called to the aquatic center around 5 p.m.
The girl was found unconscious by the rescuers of the Super Aqua Club and they began maneuvers to resuscitate her. She was taken to the intensive care unit at Saint-Eustache hospital before being transferred to Sainte-Justine hospital in Montreal. His death was pronounced there at the end of the evening.
A section of the Super Aqua Club was evacuated to allow the police to carry out their investigation and meet with witnesses.
The teenager was accompanied by her two older adult sisters. They were the ones who notified the rescuers that she was missing after the young girl was in a slide that flowed into a small artificial lake in the aquatic center.
“For the moment, the main hypothesis is that it is an accidental drowning. There is nothing to suggest that it is something criminal or negligent,” said Jean-Philippe Labbé, media relations manager for the Lac des Deux-Montagnes Police Department.
