Please note that partial traffic cuts are planned on the roads of La Tinée

The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis is launching works in the Tinée valley as winter approaches to prevent the risk of landslides and torrential lava on the roads. As part of its Multiannual Plan for securing its road assets, the Métropole wishes to prevent and control the risks of landslides and torrential lava – brutal waves composed of a mixture of water and solid materials (blocks, stones, trees …) – on three valleys located north of Saint-Sauveur-sur-Tinée, in a steep and unstable sector, corresponding to the state forest of Tinée, canton of Frachet.

Work until the end of November

After a first phase of emergency works in 2019 and public consultation, work is in progress until November 25 and aim to install anti-block nets and hanging wire netting on the RM 2205.

Road partially cut

Thereby the road may be cut punctually traffic in both directions, at a place called “Le Frachet”, for a maximum of 15 minutes, Monday to Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. A next phase of work will take place in 2023 to put in place a block-breaking merlon type structure in order to stop boulders and torrential lava, at the level of one of the valleys. The last phase of work aimed at creating a rock-breaking gallery on the last valley will take place at a later date.
