“Pissing standing up without lifting your skirt”, Olivier Arteau

After Doggy in Gravel And Made in Beautifultwo plays published by Dramaturges Éditeurs, Olivier Arteau enters the “Pieces” collection of Atelier 10 with Pissing while standing without lifting your skirt, a score inseparable from the moving show staged by the playwright himself, a queer cabaret which gives pride of place to music, singing and dance and which is currently being presented at the Center du Théâtre d’Aujourd today before going on tour to Quebec, Gaspé and Bic. All of Arteau’s texts are exceptional (self)portraits of a generation, but this hen party where the masks fall exposes in a more vibrant way than ever the strengths and weaknesses of millennials. In a very oral and yet rich, dense language, full of English and Anglicisms, poetry and neologisms, we question friendship, love, gender and sexuality. We bear witness to his convictions, his contradictions and his traumas. We express our solidarity and our hypocrisy, our compassion as well as our cruelty.
