A 17-year-old young man is in critical condition in hospital after being injured several times with a “sharp object” by a group of individuals in the borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro, in the west of the island of Montreal.
The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) went to the corner of Pierrefonds and Sources boulevards, around 4:50 p.m., after receiving several calls “for a man who appeared to be injured and chased by a group of individuals,” said its spokesperson, Véronique Dubuc.
On site, the police found the young man who was conscious at the time, but who had several injuries “which appear to have been caused by a sharp object,” she adds.
Transported to hospital, his condition rapidly deteriorated to the point where, around 7 p.m., he was considered “critical.”
According to initial information collected from witnesses, it seems that the victim was attacked by a group of “four to five” individuals, specifies Véronique Dubuc.
The reason for the attack remains unknown at the moment while the victim has not yet been met by investigators, which should happen in the coming hours.
A perimeter was set up at the crime scene from where the suspects fled before police arrived. No arrests have yet been made in this case.
