The latest version of “The Count of Monte Cristo” comes out Friday June 28. In this new version of Alexandre Dumas’ novel, Pierre Niney surpasses himself in the role of the hero in search of justice.
He is a French hero who spanned 180 years of history. The count of Monte Cristo. A young sailor, unjustly imprisoned, thirsty for revenge. The essential Pierre Niney lends his features to the mythical and extraordinary character of Alexandre Dumas. “We said to ourselves that we had to find an actor who could play 20 years old, 40 years old, full of innocence, a mysterious and a little opaque man…”, explains Alexandre De La Patellière, co-writer and co-director of the film, presented to the public before its theatrical release on Friday June 28.
A role for which Pierre Niney worked hard: horse riding, stunts, apnea in the middle of a storm… The actor loves challenges and has the art of metamorphosis. Whether he plays a firefighter, a fashion designer, or a slightly crazy director, he hits the screen. “Niney-mania” is measured wherever he goes. The actor dusts off the classic, and offers himself the swashbuckling film he dreamed of.
