Former host and businessman Pierre Marcotte died Wednesday at the age of 83. His death occurred in the evening following complications related to COVID-19, at the University Institute of Cardiology and Pulmonology of Quebec, specifies a press release from Communications Narimane.
Mr. Marcotte’s career began on the radio, where he notably made a name for himself on the airwaves of CKVL in Montreal.
He then moved on to television, where he was at the helm of several shows that touched Quebec viewers, such as The Tanners, a program he co-hosted with several artists including Joël Denis, Paolo Noël, Roger Giguère, Gilles Latulippe, Christine Chartrand, Anne Renée and Shirley Théroux, his ex-wife. He has worked for TVA, TQS and Canal Vox, hosting various quizzes and variety shows.
As a businessman, the public knew him as the manager of various restaurants, the most famous of which was certainly the restaurant Hélène-de-Champlain, on Île Sainte-Hélène, which closed its doors in January 2010.
He is survived by his spouse Denise Plouffe as well as his sons Pascal, from his first union with Ginette Ravel, as well as Bruno-Pierre, from his union with Shirley Théroux.
