“Piano Concertos Nos. 19 and 25”, Mozart, Alon Goldstein, Fine Arts Quartet

We cannot praise enough the rediscovery of Ignaz Lachner’s (1807-1895) arrangements of Mozart’s piano concertos with an orchestra reduced to a quartet and a double bass. Mozart himself used this type of device for his concertos.bone 12 to 14. Ignaz Lachner (eclipsed in the history of music by his brother Franz) applies it, in the 19the century, as part of the practices of “Hausmusik” (home music), on more “important” concertos. Goldstein and Fine Arts have already recorded for Naxos the Concertosbone 9, 17, 2021, 23 and 24. Our enthusiasm for discovering, in particular, Concertosbone 9 And 17 in 2021 is fully transposed here, particularly in the 19e Concerto, which lends itself so perfectly to the exercise. The intrinsic (very orchestral) stature of the 25e fact that it takes a certain time to immerse yourself in it, but this disc is once again such a delight that here is indeed a discipline that we would like to experience in concert, for example at the Bourgie Hall.
