PGA: JT Poston has the wind in his sails

American JT Poston is going strong on the PGA Tour and continued that momentum on day two of the John Deere Classic on Friday in Silvis, Illinois.

Poston wasn’t able to match his stunning round of 62 the night before, but he still scored a 65 (-6) to extend his lead at the top of the standings to -15. The 29-year-old only failed on the sixth pennant, where he bogeyed, and had seven birdies.

His closest pursuer after a round, the Canadian Michael Gligic, shone less on the course of the TPC Deere Run on Friday. Had it not been for his two bogeys in the final four holes, he would have held on to tied for second at -11, but Gligic dropped to eighth by virtue of a round 69 (-2). He posted a cumulative score of -9, six strokes from the lead.

The representative of the country of Uncle Sam Denny McCarthy had a day without a hitch to take alone the second level, with a round of 65 (-6).

His compatriot Patrick Rodgers is 11 strokes behind the top of the standings, but still stole the show on Friday. He hit a par-3 hole-in-one from the third pennant – the 34th in tournament history.

Aside from Gligic, Adam Svensson is the other Canadian who can still aspire to top honors. He delivered a second straight 67 and tied for 15th at -8. Nick Taylor (69) and David Hearn (72) tie 70th at -2.

After a difficult start Thursday, Adam Hadwin (67) is now 96th, tied with par.
