Pfizer children’s vaccine will be available on December 13 in the European Union

Children’s Covid Vaccine Arrives in Europe. Production of the children’s version of Pfizer-BioNTech’s vaccine will ramp up and doses will be available in the European Union on December 13, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced on Wednesday December 1.

She specified that she had this information from the German-American manufacturer, which supplies the most widely used vaccine in the 27 Member States of the Union. Ursula von der Leyen also favored the EU having a “discussion” on compulsory vaccination, in response to a question during a press conference devoted to the evolution of the pandemic and the appearance of the Omicron variant.

Despite the European green light for the Covid-19 vaccine for 5-11 year olds, the High Authority for Health (HAS) only recommended it, Tuesday, November 30, initially to those at risk of having a form severe illness. Outside the European continent, it has already been authorized for children in this age group in a small number of countries, including the United States, Israel and Canada.
