Peugeot and Tesla recall vehicles for risk of accident

Bad news for motorists who own Tesla Model S and Model 3 cars, as well as those who own Peugeot 208s and 2008s. Friday, April 15, the government site “Rappel Conso” published two recalls concerning these vehicles. In question, malfunctions that increase the risk of accident. For now, there is no information on how many vehicles are affected by this recall.

On the side of Tesla, the recall started from the European Commission, which ordered the recall of Model S and Model 3 produced since 2014, due to a fragility of the front cover. This recall covers the 2014 to 2021 production years of these models from the American manufacturer, a specialist in electric cars.

According to the site of the Commission “Safety Gate” and on the government site “Rappel conso”, “at high speed, the air intake between the bonnet and the radiator grille causes vibrations in the bonnet” affected Tesla sedans. “This can lead to stress fractures along the hood latch striker and its separation from the hood, causing the hood to pop open”a possibility that “increases the risk of accidents”specifies the site.

For its part, the French manufacturer Peugeot is recalling 2008 and 208 vehicles, sold between July 3, 2019 and September 27, 2020. According to “Rappel Conso”, “IThe open circuit detection system on the high voltage circuit may be oversensitive and could unnecessarily shut off the electrical current”.

As a result, the vehicle can “lose energy while driving” and therefore increase the risk of an accident. “In addition, it may not be possible to restart or move the vehicle for several minutes”adds the government site.

Stellantis, the parent company of the former PSA Peugeot Citroën group, assured the online media actu.fr that this type of recall is “classic” and frequent. “As soon as a particular problem occurs, we notify customers by mail, and they see directly with their dealer”replied the group.
