How to age well in Côte-d’Or? You may find the answer at the seniors’ fair which is held for two days at the Parc des expos in Dijon. This 7th edition is sponsored this year by Julien Lepers and Francoise Laborde.
Everything you need to prepare for and enjoy your retirement
There are stands on fitness and well-being, heritage, leisure, but also housing equipment and personal services. Among these services, there is the brand new Dijon agency of the Petits-Fils network. This network, with 205 agencies throughout France, presents itself as the specialist in home support for the elderly.
Increased demand in Dijon
Proof that there is demand, in the space of a few months of existence, the Dijon agency already has around forty auxiliaries and works with around sixty beneficiaries in Dijon and its surroundings.
“We intervene with these elderly people in four areas: assistance with autonomy, assistance with getting up, assistance with the toilet, night presence. We are also supporting sick people for cultural outings or to go shopping, for example. We are present at both meals, either to cook the meals, or even help with taking meals if necessary. And then, we do household help for the maintenance of the living environment of the elderlyspecifies the head of the agency, Arnaud Martin.
A desire to retain auxiliaries
Petit fils is recruiting and hopes to employ around sixty assistants by the end of this year. The demand for home care has indeed increased with the health crisis. The Ehpad Orpéa scandal also contributes to this trend.
“Given the age pyramid, the demand is there, more and more, especially with the void, not to mention the scandal, but here we are already with the facts that people want to stay at home more and more. There, we are in electoral period. We also hear all the candidates who are pushing for home care, but whether in structures or at home. The problem today is the recruitment of carers, which is a difficult job that we, we trying to promote. We want to retain them. We offer them to always have the same schedule, to have the same beneficiaries. They have a fixed schedule and therefore interventions of at least two hours. We, what we want, is that they take the time to create a relationship of trust with the beneficiary. And on top of that, we offer attractive compensation, knowing that as a grandchild, we are quite demanding. We only have people who are graduates and with at least three years of experience. explains Arnaud Martin.
