No miracle for Yoann Kowal. In full preparation for its first marathon in London, the Périgourdin ranked 15th in the 10,000 meters at the European Athletics Championships in Munich. The athlete from Dordogne athletics crossed the line in 28’17” about ten seconds from his record. The 2014 European champion in the 3,000 meter steeplechase had not marked the German meeting as a goal, but more as a bonus step in its preparation.
I had fun, in a full stadium, that’s all I remember
“I had fun, in a full stadium, that’s all I remember”, entrusted Yoann Kowal to the microphone of France Télévisions. The athlete even led the way for part of the race. He was delighted with the arrival of the bronze medal from Frenchman Yann Schrub, a medical student and 15th time among the entries, ahead of one of the favourites, the other Frenchman Jimmy Gressier.
The objective for Kowal is now focused on London and his first marathon in early October, to officially call himself a “backpacker”, and more a “tracker”.
