In 2021, women remain paid less than men, despite promises from recruiters and managers. The gap now stands at 16.5%, according to the feminist collective Les Glorieuses.

Symbolically, Wednesday November 3, women have been working for free since 9:22 a.m. The cause is the gender pay inequalities that persist in France, despite the promises of politicians. The fight is not, however, new. But contrary to popular belief, the gender pay gap, today 16.5%, continues to widen.

Among the avenues to change things: award public contracts only to virtuous companies in this area, introduce more equitable parental leave, but above all revalue the sectors of activity that are almost exclusively female, such as that of nurses or domestic workers. . “Both to compensate for and evolve in this pay gap in a positive way, and also to show the importance of these professions in our society”, specifies Rebecca Amsellem, economist and founder of the feminist collective Les Glorieuses. According to INSEE, 80% of part-time, less well-paid jobs are held by women.
