Para-swimming | Aurélie Rivard at the foot of the podium in Berlin

Aurélie Rivard (S10) qualified for a second final in two days at the Para-swimming World Series in Berlin, Germany. Gold medalist the day before in the 200m freestyle, the Quebecer this time took fourth place in the 100m freestyle on Friday.


Rivard completed the distance with a time of 1 min 0.74 s, which gave him a total of 846 points. At this stage of the World Series, athletes from different classifications compete against each other and the score is then adjusted based on their handicap.

The Brazilian Maria Carolina Gomes Santiago (S12) won gold with 914 points, ahead of the Dutch Liesette Bruinsma (S11) as well as the British Poppy Maskill (S14).

Aurélie Rivard also took fourth place during qualifying at the very start of the day. She will return to action on Saturday in the 50m freestyle, her final event of the weekend.

Also registered in the 100m freestyle, Tess Routliffe (S7) finished 16the rank in qualifying, before placing fifth in the B final with his 747 points. The session was won by the Dutch Lisa Kruger (S10). Routliffe had finished third the day before in the 100m breaststroke.

For her part, Sabrina Duchesne was slowed down in qualifying, ranking 27e.

Arianne Hunsicker (S10) is the other Quebecer who managed to reach a final on Friday, finishing second in the B final in the 50m backstroke.
