The self-reporting platform for rapid COVID-19 tests put online by the Quebec government on Tuesday saw 23,000 tests recorded in two days.
Health Minister Christian Dubé unveiled the figures on Twitter on Thursday, noting that 1,000 of these tests had a positive result.

2 first days of the self-declaration platform: already more than 23K tests have been recorded, including 1K positive yesterday, which are added to the PCR tests.
At the moment, the positivity rate is not representative, as people have reported more positives. pic.twitter.com/iZKI5STCjf— Christian Dubé (@cdube_sante) January 27, 2022
Mr. Dubé invites people to enter their previous tests from the last month, both positive and negative, in order to have a better idea of the total number of cases, both by self-test and by PCR test, and the progression of the Omicron virus.
PCR tests are now reserved for certain priority groups, so the data on the number of new cases revealed each day by the Ministry of Health is no longer representative of the current situation.
“With such a tool now available to the public, it will be easier for our Public Health teams to assess the progression of the virus within the community. We will thus be able to have a more realistic overall portrait, which will help public health to adjust health measures according to the real epidemiological situation,” explained Minister Dubé when the platform was launched.
