Outrage to the body of a 64-year-old lady: her son is now accused of having killed her

A man who was already accused of indignity to the corpse of his 64-year-old mother since last winter is now also accused of having killed her, before leaving her to waste away, wrapped in a sheet for several weeks.

“The Personal Crimes Division continued to investigate after the arrest to be able to charge him with manslaughter. This is what we are able to prove,” said Crown prosecutor Me Jennifer Lepage, after the official appearance of Danic Laframboise, at the Saint-Jérôme courthouse.

The 40-year-old man faces a new charge, namely manslaughter, against his mother, Louise Bergeron.

Polite, calm, thin and wearing a plain white sweater, Laframboise pleaded not guilty by videoconference.

On the floor

Last February, Deux-Montagnes police officers discovered the remains of the sixty-year-old in the low-rent housing (HLM) on Avenue Basile-Routhier in Pointe-Calumet, in the Laurentians.

She was lying on the floor of her apartment, wrapped in a sheet, in which she was allegedly hidden.

It was a friend of the victim and resident of the area who had reported her disappearance, according to what residents of the area had told the Newspaper at the time.

Several tenants of the residence had not seen Mme Bergeron since the beginning of the year, she who had been living there for more than a year.

His son’s speech would also have aroused suspicion among residents.

Laframboise, of no fixed address, but who had allegedly taken advantage of his mother’s accommodation all this time, was arrested on the spot.

He was quickly charged with indignity to a corpse and failure to comply with conditions.

Not normal

The autopsy was then eagerly awaited by the authorities with a view to filing other charges against the suspect.

“We all thought it was him. The whole time he was there, we couldn’t hear him [la victime]. We didn’t see her. It was not normal, reacted to the new accusation Diane Malette, a resident of the HLM. It’s difficult to understand and digest. To do that, you don’t have to be all there.”

Furthermore, the apartment in which the tragedy allegedly occurred is still vacant.

Since his arrest, Laframboise has tried several times to be released.

However, he will remain detained until the end of the legal proceedings.

Laframboise is due back in court next week.
