This summer, many outdoor events await film lovers in the metropolis. Which feature films will be screened under the stars? Overview of the programming of six events.

The cream of crime films

Fans of detective stories will once again be delighted by Film Noir at the Canal. Opening this 8e edition, on Sunday July 14, they will be able to see a classic of American cinema for free in its original version: Double Indemnity. Starring Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray, this 1944 work directed by Billy Wilder follows an insurance company employee in love with a woman who convinces him to come up with a plan to eliminate her husband. The screening of the feature film on the banks of the Lachine Canal, at Saint-Patrick Square, will be preceded by a presentation of the film by filmmaker Rafaël Ouellet. Five other free outdoor screenings will be held at the same location on Sundays, until August 18. “To keep the suspense going, the films in the program are unveiled each week during the summer,” the organizers indicate in a press release.
