Jacques Boudet, who played many supporting roles in cinema, notably in the films of Robert Guédiguian, as well as in theatre and on television, has died at the age of 89, AFP learned from his entourage.

The actor is “died suddenly” in his sleep on the night of Sunday to Monday, near Montpellier (Hérault), his agent, Pierrette Panou, told AFP.

A cult face in cinema and television, Jacques Boudet has played supporting roles for many filmmakers such as Bertrand Blier, Bertrand Tavernier, Claude Lelouch and Luc Besson.

The theatre actor joined the family of Marseille director Robert Guédiguian from his second feature film, Red Midiin 1985, and subsequently appeared in almost all of his films, up to the last one And the party continues! released in 2023.
