The federal government is expected to announce on Friday that Health Canada has approved the COVID-19 vaccine for children aged five to 11.
It is also expected to announce the relaxation of certain measures related to COVID-19 at the Canadian border.
The federal government has scheduled a press conference with officials for Friday at 10 a.m. to release news regarding the authorization of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for children.
Officials will also provide an update on the recommendations of the National Advisory Committee on Immunization.

On Friday afternoon, federal ministers are expected to discuss easing measures taken to prevent the importation of new cases at the border.
They are expected to eliminate the rule that requires travelers on short trips to the United States to show a negative COVID-19 molecular test in order to return to Canada.
