Ottawa invests $3 million in drones for Ukraine

The federal government will spend $3 million on drone production in Ukraine to support kyiv’s fight against the Russian invasion.

Defense Minister Bill Blair said Friday the financial aid was being provided in collaboration with the United Kingdom.

Speaking to a group of defense leaders, Mr Blair also announced a 13 million investment in the Czech Republic’s initiative to supply munitions to Ukraine.

This Friday’s announcements effectively break down funding committed last year, when the Liberal government pledged $500 million in military support.

Minister Blair also provided an update on previously announced donations.

He said the first wave of armored vehicles, as well as ten tactical boats promised to Ukraine, should be delivered this summer.
