Ottawa and Gatineau | Vaccine required for access to national museums

(Ottawa) The national museums in Ottawa and Gatineau will require proof of vaccination from their visitors from 1er next december.

All these museums made the announcement Monday morning.

The Museum of Aviation and Space, that of Agriculture and Food, that of History, that of Science and Technology, that of Nature, that of War, as well as the National Gallery of Canada all impose this new rule on visitors aged 12 and over.

“As public institutions, we believe it is our duty to take the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of visitors and to do our part to help eliminate the spread of the COVID-19 virus,” perhaps read the press release published by the Canada Science and Innovation Museum.

National museums are announcing that their employees will also be fully immunized. November 15 marks the date on which any public service employee who refuses the vaccine without presenting a medical or religious exemption is put on unpaid leave.

The visitors’ proof of vaccination must be at least 14 days old to open the doors of the museums. It must be presented with a government-issued ID.

Since the reopening of these museums, whose closure had been imposed by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, wearing a mask is mandatory. Additional cleaning measures have also been introduced.

“Requiring proof of vaccination is just another way for national museums to do their part to provide a safe environment for the public and staff,” it was noted in the press release issued by the Canadian Museum of the story.
