After the bombing of Sumy in northern Ukraine, 71 children were saved. Repatriated to kyiv, these orphans need constant care.
Babies finally safe. Their story is miraculous. After the bombardment of the city of Sumy, in the north of Ukraine, 71 children, orphans, were saved and transferred to hospital in kyiv. Some are disabled or need emergency medical care. “They are babies who had stayed at the Sumy orphanage. They were evacuated a few days ago and miraculously they arrived here. Their journey was very difficult“says a doctor at the hospital.
For two weeks, these children remained in a base under Russian bombardment. When humanitarian aid finally arrived, they had to make a long, dangerous journey to the hospital. Each of them has an orange wristband with some personal details: name, date of birth and possible medical care needs. With Russian forces threatening kyiv, medical teams have no guarantees in the future. But for now, the babies are getting the medical help they need. Most are out of danger.
