Order of Arts and Letters | Kim Thúy knighted by France

Writer, presenter, columnist, restorer, ex-lawyer. Kim Thúy can now add the title of signet ring to her curriculum vitae.

The Consulate General of France gave him his medal during an intimate ceremony held Monday at the Residence of France, in Quebec. Her appointment to the rank of Knight in the Order of Arts and Letters of the French Republic “comes to salute the exceptional career of this leading author of Quebec and her contribution to the literary world”, we explain.

Propelled in 2010 from the publication of her first novel, Ru, who drew on her journey as a Vietnamese immigrant whose family had to flee the war, the writer quickly became one of the most publicized figures in Quebec literature. Decorated with several awards, including that of the Governor General, his work combines both popular and critical success.

Published in Quebec by Libre Expression, Kim Thúy’s novels are published in Paris by Éditions Liana Levi. The launch of her books in France was accompanied by numerous promotional tours, having led her to meet her French readers from all regions.
