Is this the end of the snowy episode? More than three departments are still on snow and ice orange vigilance, Sunday April 3 in the morning. These are the Loire, Haute-Loire and Puy-de-Dôme. In these three departments of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, thissnowy episode “unusual for an early spring” could “disrupt traffic”explains Météo France.

The quantities of fresh snow measured since the start of the episode reached “10 to 15 cm towards 400-500 m altitude, 15 to 30 cm above and up to 30 to 50 cm on the pre-Alpine massifs (in particular Vercors, Chartreuse) and on the Massif Central”.

This Sunday morning, “The last flakes no longer present any particular risk. The weather becomes dry again in the afternoon”. The snow at medium and low altitude will melt gradually. Caution: a high risk of refreezing remains for the night from Sunday to Monday, with freezing temperatures expected.
