Don Waddell, President and CEO, made the announcement Tuesday evening.

Pacioretty was acquired from the Vegas Golden Knights by the Hurricanes on July 13. A transaction that also moved defender Dylan Coghlan to North Carolina. In return, the Canes had only had to part with subsequent compensation.

In 39 games last season in Vegas, the American striker scored 19 goals and registered 18 assists.

It is therefore estimated that he will return to the game around January 2023.
